generally different look and feel. Granted, you can go back to the "traditional" desktop, however its features are pretty limited.
For example, the start button on the main desktop sends you back to the new user interface. It took me a while to figure out how to run applications that are incompatible with the new interface, so I eventually just resorted to creating a shortcut to cmd.exe on the desktop and launching programs that way.

The intent of this new interface is to be more compatible with touch interfaces. I will say that it appears to be a nice looking interface for that purpose, however I don't like the way it works on the desktop. On the desktop, it's just plain annoying.
